History

hand painted and gilded vase

  • few words of master painter: "Designing a new collection of painted glass for Moser was a great challenge for me and at the same time a commitment. The whole concept is based on books of drawings more than a century old in the vast Moser archive. The decor is a combination of several traditional, ornamental patterns painted with embossed and transparent glass colours, completed with detailed paintwork and line drawings of pure gold. The overall impression underscores Moser’s handcut crystal. During the process, I was trying to follow up on the golden age of painting on glass at Moser to create an adequate collection today that would be a worthy successor to the tradition of painting at Moser."

The secrets of work by hand

Crystal with tradition from 1857

Each and every Moser art piece requires hours, days, weeks and often months of hand processing in the hands of our master glassmakers. The secrets of glassmaking are traditionally passed down from generation to generation. Becoming a master glassmaker requires years of practice, a great deal of talent and considerable strength: – the glassmaker must hold vases or bowls weighing tens of kilograms while they work.
