Moser’s first monobrand sales gallery in Japan offers a wide range of crystal beverage sets, interior accessories, such as crystal vases, artistic engravings and crystal gifts. Each new collection includes classic design and also the latest design trends. The store will be run by our glassworks’ exclusive partner in Japan, the Meiwa Sales Co. Ltd. company. We have been working together for over forty years. In the first year sales in the amount of 20 million Czech crowns are expected.
“Japan is known for its passion for art, craft and tradition, all typical attributes of Moser’s luxury crystal. Another reason for the opening of the first monobrand sales gallery in Japan are its exclusive customers with sophisticated taste and an appreciation of uniqueness of Moser crystal glass,” stated the Art Director of our glassworks Lukáš Jabůrek.
The Moser brand has a history of over 160 years. The same can be said of the Imperial Hotel Tokyo. This hotel, one of the most luxurious hotels in the Japanese metropolis, was opened in 1890 and became the first Western style hotel in Japan. The end of the 19th century was marked by great economic growth. In 1867 emperor Mucuhito (better known as Meiji) came to the thrown and his 45 year reign saw the adoption of many reforms. The feudal system was abolished and many Western institutions, including the Western legal code and government. Together with additional economic, social and military reforms these changes led to a rebirth of Japan as a modern day world power. This went hand in hand with the development of international tourism. During over 125 years of existence the Imperial Hotel Tokyo has hosted royal families, prominent statesmen, as well as a number of celebrities. These include stars of the silver screen such as Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, director Luc Besson and Keanu Reeves.
In 1922 the original hotel building was destroyed in a fire. The second Imperial Hotel was designed in 1923 by world famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Part of the building has survived to this day. And finally the third hotel was built as a seventeen-storey building in 1968.
