Glass of Kings
The Moser company became a notable court purveyor to the English royal court. The title of a court purveyor of King Edward VII and his wife Alexandra in 1908 accentuated the excellent reputation of Moser tableware and barware and drew the interest of other statesmen and sovereigns. At the beginning of the 20th century Moser supplied glass for tables of King Haakon VII of Norway and King Ferdinand of Bulgaria. Another European royal house is represented by Maria Pia, mother of King Charles I of Portugal, who visited the glassworks in May 1905. She ordered a numerous drinking set who has been preserved in the royal palace in Lisbon to the present. Maria Pia was an aunt of King Victor Emanuel III of Italy, whose table was decorated with the drinking set Victor Emanuel 5180 with filigree cut. King Alphons XIII of Spain ordered the drinking set Alphonso 11660 in 1915. The set has been decorating the tables of the royal palace in Madrid up to now. King Zogu I of Albania placed an order of the set Neri 6140.
After 1945 the glassworks took up the tradition of "Glass of Kings". In 1947 a second Moser drinking set became the property of the royal family in London. After the set Royal it was Splendid this time, which Edvard Beneš, President of the Czechoslovak Republic presented as a wedding gift to Princess Elisabeth on the occasion of her marriage. The drinking set Splendid, composed of 178 pieces, was decorated with the monogram and crown of Princess Elisabeth of England.
The festive tables at the weddings of European aristocracy in 2004 were also laid with the Moser drinking sets. The table of His Highness Filipe of Asturia and his wife Letizia Ortiz was set with the drinking set Copenhagen. The table of His Highness Federick of Denmark and his wife Mary Donaldson was set with the drinking set Splendid.
