Ludwig Moser Award 2015

With almost 160 years of making and selling handmade drinking sets and decorative crystal, Moser, a.s. announced the fifth annual “Ludwig Moser Award 2015” for the best design of a drinking set.
Students could send their proposals until 30th June 2015.  A seven-member jury subsequently selected the competition winner from the proposals.

The author of the winning design received 10 000 CZK and a week internship at the Moser Glassworks in Karlovy Vary in relation to creating the design. Selected designs and works will be presented in the Moser sales gallery at Na Příkopě 12 in Prague.

The task for young students from secondary schools and universities was to create a drinking set (vessels for white and red wine, beer, tumblers for water, decanter) or a tumbler set with a bottle for whisky, which is to bear the unique Moser style and tradition in conjunction with contemporary trends. They should meet glasswork's three basic goals colour combination, craft (cut, engraved, sand-blasted or gilded motifs) and linking tradition with contemporary design. The main assessment criteria was creativity, innovation, functionality, originality and variation.
