MOSER AND UNIQUE BOUTIQUE,
THIS TIME IN THE FAMOUS AT THE WALLS HOUSE
Do you like mystery, magic spaces and original ideas? Then don’t miss attending 2nd year of the Pop-Up Boutique Unique project focused on the theme "All for family." Pop-up managed to find prestigious residence at Mostecká 21, Prague 1, located on a special area right on the famous Royal Route for this year’s event.
The residence stands on the site of two Gothic houses built after a devastating fire of Malá Strana in the 2nd half of 15th century. In the rear section, there are still remains of medieval city walls from the 13th century. The recent history of the house is quite interesting, too. It was a site of the popular Cinema 64 At the Walls known by premiere of the legendary movie Starci na chmelu presented there almost 40 years ago, At that time, the cinema was admired for its very modern interior design and technical screening facilities.
From Monday 14th till Wednesday 23rd May, 2012, courtyard, garden and original cinema spaces will all provide an unrivalled scope for presentation, product offer and services from the field of housing, design, fashion, cosmetics or gastronomy. Moser will present a new 2012 collection created to mark 155th anniversary of the glassworks foundation. A unique array of exhibits will include modern, perfectly crafted and artistically created crystal objects manufactured by contemporary glass artists as per their own designs as well as by using the most successful historical patterns of the Moser glassworks. We cordially invite you to participate!
Expression "pop-up"
The phenomenon of the pop-up is based on a principle of the provisional boutique aimed to present and sell products and services, in particular to offer specific or new products, limited editions etc. often at special prices. The first initiators of pop-ups were New York and British artists, who started to organize them in the ninetieth of 20th century. They selected an abandoned building, held a product preview there and ended the exhibition in a few days later. Exhibited works were on display and sale only within the pop-up, which gave them a touch of exclusivity. As far as commercial brands are concerned, the fashion house Commes des Garcons which opened the first pop-up in Berlin in 2004, was one of pioneers of this movement. Other brands such as Gucci or GAP, inspired by this extraordinary success followed up the project. Today, the Mecca of pop-ups is primarily New York followed by London or Berlin.

PRAGUE FESTIVAL AND LUDWIG MOSER AWARD
Traditional Czech industry sector, glass manufacturing, became famous in the world not only as a craft, but during the twentieth century as a new field of art. The Pokorna Gallery (www.galeriepokorna.cz/) representing artists who work with glass over twenty years, has founded a festival four years ago with the aim to present this internationally recognized artistic branch to the Czech public and art collectors..
This year's festival will be attended by artists from the Czech Republic, USA, France, Israel, Poland, Hungary and other countries. Their works will be exhibited in several Prague locations. One of the most interesting presentations of this year's festival will be the exhibition of the Czech free art founders, namely thirty of them being the most renewed artists in the industry. The participation of foreign artists at the Prague Festival will also allow comparison approach to glass formation, based on differences in life of individual nations, cultural traditions, customs, education and knowledge of the craft. No doubt this friendly, artistic confrontation will contribute to refine their artistic views and, at the same time, to strengthen the prestige of the Czech Art glass.
Moser glassworks, celebrating this year 155th anniversary of its foundation, becomes again a partner of the Prague Festival. Recognizing its responsibility to develop tradition of the hand-glass craft, Moser announces 2nd annual competition “The Ludwig Moser Award”. The competition is open to talented students and graduates of glass schools in order to promote their creativity and starting their independent art creation.
The international exhibition of modern glass works PF 12 was opened on Thursday, 26 April 2012. The ceremony took place in the Gorlice monumental hall at Prague’s Vyšehrad in the presence of TV and other media representatives, glass artists and professionals. Throughout the month, visitors are be able to admire contemporary glass art on the six Prague’s exhibition locations, galleries and cultural centres, where creation styles of which are typical for each participating country, can be compared.
Called "Invitation", the selective exhibition of the most successful glass sculptures and other art objects exhibited in previous PF years, was officially opened on 18th April at the Czech Center in New York. The show lasting till 29th May presents authorial works of the young Czech artists (such as Světlana Svatošová, Jakub Janďourek, Ota Svoboda – all graduates of Václav Machač’s atelier, Lukáš Jabůrek, the Moser’s chief designer and others, who all superbly demonstrate in reality that the current generation well masters demanding glass craft and contemporary design in combination with free and applied arts.
The presentation of the 2nd annual competition for young talented glass artists, graduates from both high schools and colleges named “The Ludwig Moser Award” was in fact a culmination of the two glass festive events held in Prague and New York. The competition supports the acquisition of practical experience and individual creation of incoming art glass generation. Ceremonial announcement of the Ludwig Moser Award results will take place in the Gallery Pokorna on September 2012 where the most successful students’ exhibits will be displayed. The winning design of the 1st Ludwig Moser Award competition being the range of multi purpose bowls designed by Světlana Svatošová, graduates of the glass high school at Nový Bor, was realized in the Moser glassworks and will be included to the glassworks production programme due to its invention and novel design.
You can see the above crystal bowls and the exhibition of students works in various glass making disciplines in the Moser Prague sales gallery Na Příkopě 12, other successful works are on display in the CzechTourism, Staroměstské náměstí 5, Prague followed by the Photo exhibition at the Prague Ruzyně Airport.
We believe that the above feats will support a good name and future of the Czech glass-making.
You are cordially invited to participate of the above events!
