JAPANESE CHILDREN FROM AREAS AFFECTED BY TSUNAMI ON VISIT TO MOSER GLASSWORKS
On 26th March 2012, Moser glassworks became one of the destinations that 26 Japanese children from tsunami-stricken regions helped to forget the difficulties which they have to face in their everyday life. Experiences of children from one-week stay in the Czech Republic are compounded by the fact that it was their very first trip abroad.
We asked children to evaluate their stay: "It's an incredible experience for us; a completely different culture, different customs. We have never been at glassworks before, not even in Japan. We liked it there very much. We could even blow a glass ball. We will have something to remember.”
We were very pleased that we could sweeten children’ lives for a while and have presented them with small crystal gifts in memory.
More information about the children stay in the Czech Republic:
On 11th March, people in Japan and abroad commemorated the annual anniversary of the greatest disaster in the Japan postwar history. Held prayer meetings, concerts and other commemorations were taking place around the world, including the Czech Republic.
The Czech-Japanese Company, together with its partners, has prepared a week stay for a group of children from the worst affected areas (one week was the maximum length the Japanese side was willing to allow for releasing them from school), whose goal was not just mental relaxation and making new contacts, but particularly gaining positive motivation that all are urgently needed not only for reconstruction but for the very survival of the affected areas, too.
During one week visit, children got acquainted with the sights of Prague, visited Zoo and the National Technical Museum, measured their strengths in the performance of selected disciplines in the frame of the Badge of Olympic Champions Eventing’ competition supervised by our olympians and called upon cities of Karlovy Vary and Pilsen.
The aim of the Czech-Japanese Company was also to present the way how we, in the Czech Republic, are preserving valuable cultural and economic heritage, despite the most adverse historical conditions, and to introduce personalities - such as the legendary athletes Vera Caslavska or Roman Sebrle – who were able, although each in a different direction, to clench their teeth and to hold on. Last but not least, to give children feel how deep are the links between our two countries and to recognize a pride in taking into account successful Japanese investments in the the Czech Republic.

New Museum Moser in the heart of Prague
If you look for an inspiring
place where history of the glass production mingles with the
contemporary one, having an inimitable “genius loci”, you can find
it in a newly open glass Moser Museum in the heart of Prague. A
gripping exhibition on 150 year history of Moser glassworks linking
till these days was created in a historic space of originally
Romanesque and consequently Gothic and Renaissance rebuilt medieval
house “At the White Unicorn“ at the turn of 12th and
13th century.
You can meet a mystery of a production of the unique crystal productions. You can see some authentic glass tools used for making products till now and you can discover a beauty and history of famed Moser sets. There are exhibited the most famous and substantial exhibits of Moser glassworks’ history and you can compared them with the contemporary modern art of glass makers. You can see the well-known crystal cups decorated with various initials, state emblems or emblems of sovereign or royal families, maharajas and Caesars. An interesting film about a beauty and uniqueness of glass craft is an inseparable part of the showing round.
Although the heart of glassworks beats in Karlovy Vary we have tried to transfer its beating into a crystal model which dominates the whole exhibition.
We believe you will enjoy this place and have a nice experience and you will like coming back to us.
