Designblok 2023 − Awards

The Designblok award ceremony, which took place on Saturday, 8 October, in the Rudolph Gallery at Prague Castle, yielded Moser two awards. The international jury of professional designers awarded Moser‘s “UP” installation the award for the Best Installation by Producer. The levitating presentation caught the attention of not just the experts but also the visitors, whose more than two thousand votes assured the Karlsbad glassworks‘ victory in the Public Award category.

“I‘m overjoyed by the award, and it‘s great satisfaction for all of Moser. Many thanks go to all those who took part and were unafraid to realise such a bold installation,” says its author and the art director of Moser, Jan Plecháč.

Moser presented the “UP” installation on a levitating block carried by balloons, and through it, introduced for the first time ever all new creations of art director Jan Plecháč in contrast with history. The goal was to showcase the unique combination of over-a-century-old artwork with contemporary, airy design.

The heavy levitating block embodied the magical rock found in Karlsbad and alluded to the demanding and raw work of glassmakers.

Designblok also marked the première of the Soul of the Forest collection, for which Jan Plecháč drew inspiration from the diversity of natural structures and the harmony of the forest.

This year, it took place from 4 through 8 October 2023 and appealed to fans of modern design from the ranks of professionals and the general public alike. The prestigious exhibition concluded with the handing out of awards in eight categories. The presiding juror this year was leading Dutch designer Ineke Hans.
